Variety Pet Foods Give Canines a Reason to Be Thankful « About Petco – Petco"s Company Information Site

A new line of canned dog food from Variety Pet has arrived in PETCO stores just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. These formulas give pampered pooches a way to join the family during the holidays year-round with a variety of fun human-like all-natural food flavors – like the Thanksgiving Dinner recipe.

Every two-pack of Variety Pet Home Style Recipe Dog Food is just $ 3.99 and right now pet parents can choose from six different holiday flavors – Thanksgiving Dinner, Grandma’s Casserole, Colorado Cookout, Savannah Crockpot, Sunday Brunch, and Pacific Entree.

“Pet parents can take home a Thanksgiving Dinner for their own dog, or as a gift while visiting family and friends at their holiday gatherings,” says PETCO’s VP of Dog Consumables Rick Rockhill. “The Thanksgiving Dinner recipe is a great way to get furry family members into the celebration, and because it’s all-natural, it’s a healthy addition to any pet’s diet.”

Every can of Variety Pet Home Style Recipe Dog Food is made in the U.S.A. with premium, natural ingredients, contains no by-products, wheat or preservatives. The foods are veterinarian formulated, featuring Omega 3s and linoleic acid for healthy skin and coat, along with a boost of 16 essential vitamins and minerals for a happy, healthy pet.

Another great product perfect for the holidays are the Vita Gravy Dog Food Toppers that are already sold in PETCO stores nationwide.

Alpo Brand Prime Cuts In Gravy Canned Dog Food Voluntary Nationwide Recall « About Petco – Petco"s Company Information Site

Sometime after midnight on Saturday morning, March 31st, we received an update from Nestle-Purina that they are voluntarily recalling all sizes and varieties of its ALPO Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food. Here is a portion of the statement from Nestle Purina:

Nestle Purina PetCare Company today announced it is voluntarily recalling all sizes and varieties of its ALPO Prime Cuts in Gravy wet dog food with specific date codes.

Consumers should immediately stop feeding their dogs ALPO Prime Cuts products with the date codes listed below and consult with a veterinarian if they have any health concerns with their pet.

The recalled 13.2-ounce and 22-ounce ALPO Prime Cuts cans and 6-, 8-, 12- and 24-can ALPO Prime Cuts Variety Packs have four-digit code dates of 7037 through 7053, followed by the plant code 1159. Those codes follow a “Best Before Feb. 2009″ date. This information should be checked on the bottom of the can or the top or side of the multi-pack cartons.

Less than 300 PETCO stores in the chain carry these Alpo SKUs, and we are communicating this message to stores to remove the SKUs from their shelves.

Pet parents whose wet brands are temporarily unavailable for purchase can substitute a dry kibble formula from the same brand, or choose from a wide selection of other wet products available at PETCO including: Natural Balance, Natural Ultramix, Organix, Nature’s Recipe, Eatables, Halo Spot’s Stew, AvoDerm.
