Recall Alert: Natura Pet Food May Contain Salmonella


You may want to read this before you give your beloved pets dinner tonight. Natura Pet Products has voluntarily recalled several varieties of dry pet food due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The contamination was found during routine FDA testing when a single lot tested positive for the presence of Salmonella. Though there have been no complaints of human or pet illness associated with Salmonella, Natura is cautiously recalling all products with an expiration date prior to June 10, 2014. To be sure you don’t have any of the recalled product, check your pantries for all lot codes, UPCs and package sizes for the following units with an expiration date before June 10, 2014:


•  Innova Dry dog and cat food and biscuits/bars/treats
•  EVO dry dog, cat and ferret food and biscuits/bars/treats
•  California Natural dry dog and cat foods and biscuits/bars/treats
•  Healthwise dry dog and cat foods
•  Karma dry dog foods
•  Mother Nature biscuits/bars/treats

If you think you or your pet has been infected with Salmonella after either handling or ingesting the products (symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever for humans and lethargy, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting for pets) seek a physician or veterinarian.

Consumers with the affected product are encouraged to discard it. Due to the volume of this recall it is important to note that no wet foods are included.
